FAQ's

How long will my pets grooming take?

Our small dogs are here usually 2-3 hours and larger are 3-4 hours.

We like to take our time with each pup to ensure their visit at our salon is as stress free and enjoyable as possible!

How long have you been in business?

Since November 2010! Thanks to our wonderful loyal clientele!

Should I shave my dog to help shedding?

No!! Dogs that have double coats such as Golden Retrievers, Siberian Huskies and Labradors need their extra coat for insulation. Not only from the cold but from the heat. If shaved the coat will most likely not grow back the same and will cause your pup discomfort with anything other than mild weather.

We highly recommend not shaving unless pet has health issues, is a senior and cant handle brushing or if your vet recommends it.

How often should I groom my pet?

We usually say its great to have your pet groomed every 6-8 weeks. Not only for your pets health and hygiene but to keep them on a good schedule and routine as pets adapt very well to structure and routine.

When should I bring my new puppy in?

We recommend bringing your puppy in right after his/her last set of puppy shots. Usually around 16 weeks of age.

We offer a "puppy package" at a discounted rate for puppies 5 months and under to encourage an early foundation of grooming and handling. During the "puppy package" we introduce them to the bath, brushing/combing, nail trimmers and blow dryer. Since they will be groomed for life we like to make it a happy and positive experience!!

What shots do you require?

We require that your pet is up to date on his/her rabies shot unless otherwise written by your vet.

We also do recommend when ever your pet is around other pets having his parvo/distemper shots as well as kennel cough vaccination.

Do you do flea and tick baths?

We do not. The products we use are all natural and we use no chemicals. We do recommend in flea and tick season to use Frontline Plus to prevent your pet from getting fleas or ticks.

If we find fleas or ticks on your pet, for the safety of the other animals in our salon we will send him/her home and recommend doing a Frontline flea/tick treatment. Then once the treatment has killed all remaining flea or tick(48 hours) we can take your pet back and finish his/her groom.

Can I stay with my pet while he/she is groomed?

Unfortunately due to insurance reasons we can not have you in the back with the animals. We also have found that the pet becomes anxious when their owner is around as they are then ready to leave and over excited. So its usually best if you let him/her stay with us during their day at the spa.

Sometimes my pet shakes when he comes in, is he afraid to be groomed?

Not necessarily, he may just be anxious from the car ride, excited, or not sure if he is going to the vet to get a shot.

Much like kids in pre-school, once you are gone they settle in and get comfortable. In fact, they often pull us into the grooming area! We always allow the dog to sniff around and smell the salon a bit to familiarize themselves with their environment.

Dogs are very intuitive and will pick up any anxiety that you may be feeling, so it is important that you be calm and reassuring.

Can I bring my own shampoo?

Absolutely, although our top rated Nature's Specialty product line is designed to promote a healthy coat and skin. We have many different shampoos and conditioners to sooth may different types of skin and coat. We have everything from hypo allergenic, Oatmeal shampoo, medicated with tea tree oil to our favorite the "Plum Silky" enriched with silk proteins and aloe! All of our special shampoos are included and no charge to upgrade or change!

If your veterinarian has prescribed or suggested an alternate shampoo rather than our product line, we will gladly use it.

Do you take same day appointments?

Yes! Please call us for availability!

Why is there a range on your pricing?

We operate on a Tier system(JUST like a Hair Salon).

We have 3 Levels of groomers based on; Experience Level, Length of time grooming here, Length of time grooming, Technique and Handling skills.

Our Owner is very particular about the Groomers we hire, we have a VERY rigorous hiring process.

Do you kennel dry?

Yes. We hand blow dry dogs 80-90% of the way through and then they are placed in a safe kennel with a blanket with room temperature air to dry them the rest of the way. We feel it's best that the dogs get breaks in between the bathing and grooming process to let them have a rest.

Do you use heated dryers?

NO. All of our dryers are using room temperature heat.

Do you offer kennel free grooming?

Yes. We have what's called an “Express” groom. We will mark a space in the groomers schedule so they are working solely on your pet. The charge is the same charge as a groom. Example: Shih-tzus are $55(level 1) the express fee will be $55 on top of the $55 groom, totaling $100.. This is a 60-90 min groom for small dogs and a 90-120 min groom for large dogs. We work solely on your dog alone, he does not go in a kennel.

Top Ten Reasons Why It Costs More to Get Your Pet Groomed Than Your Own Hair Cut:

 10. Your hairdresser doesn’t wash and clean your rear end.
 9. You don’t go for eight weeks without washing or brushing your hair
8. Your hairdresser doesn’t have to give you a sanitary trim.
7. Your hairdresser doesn’t have to clean your ears.
6. Your hairdresser doesn’t have to remove the boogies from your eyes.
5.You sit still for your hairdresser.
4. Your haircut doesn’t include a manicure or pedicure.
3. Your hairdresser only washes and cuts the hair on your head.
2. You don’t bite or scratch your hairdresser.
1. The likelihood of you pooping on the hairdresser is pretty slim.
This list may be funny BUT it is TRUE!! Grooming a dog simply takes more time, patience AND COURAGE then cutting human hair!
